The sights, the sounds, the smells of summer...

Even though our summer is rapidly coming to an end (the kids only have 13 days left until school starts!), the last couple of days have really felt like summer... warm temperatures, cloudless skies, and the sweet sights, sounds and smells that go along with it...we've been busy!!!

The sights and sounds of a Hawaiian Luau held downtown last night to celebrate the 49th anniversary of Hawaii becoming the 50th state of the union (which just happens to be quite a ways from here) and to recognize a 19th-century native of the city who married a Hawaiian princess and became a prominent philanthropist in the islands....

(that building in the middle of the background is our tallest building in the entire area at 10? stories high)
The sights and sounds of a Tiki band and its dancers...
The sight of everyone (and everything) dressed for the evening...The smells and tastes of...

snocones!!!!!

cotton candy...
ice cream....
(which we eat year round at our house!)

and grilling...
The sight of outdoor art....
(part of Third Thursday Art Walk)...

The sight (and realization) of the end of the summer recreation program for the kids....
(no structured activities for next week...OY!)

The smell of chlorine...
The sight of beach towels drying...
The smells, the feeling of sitting on the screened in porch...

(since we have no A/C, we eat most of our dinners out here).

The smell of fresh cut grass (and the knowledge that someone besides myself is working around the house)...

The sight of new fabric....(okay, well, not necessarily season-specific to summer, but the clothing I plan to make from these great fabrics is!)

The fun of fishing....

(or making a quiltie for someone who loves fishing... but not the taste of it!)

complete with a fly....

and even the backing has fish.....
The sight of a package....had me worried. Did I order a lot of stuff for a lot of money and forget???

Nope... it is the giveaway from Lila Tueller that I won!!!!
A gorgeous bohemian bag in her new fabric line, not yet in stores!!!
Just gorgeous!!!!
The excitement of a new bag.....

AAAAHHHHHH! Summer is great!
