Cough, cough, groan.... I am sick!!!

Yup, I am sick!!!

Sick with...

And the manifestations of such an illness are bizarre indeed!

I take many photos of ice ...

and snow....

(on the mountains)

 (on the back deck)

 (on the trees)

(at the mailbox)

I take photos of the birds at our feeder...

 (when they are impatient)

(when they are patient)

and
(when they are just plain skittish)

I enter contests on blogs...

Some I win....

I won this book on Teri's blog!

I won this lovely haul on The Printed Fabric Bee!

 most I don't :-(

I make messes....

and look for vacuums to clean up said messes...

and I do clean...

ad nauseum!!

 I buy art...

from Natalya

and
this beautiful piece by Karen Rips
that I purchased from the The 100

to benefit the American Cancer Society

I hide a lot
in my sewing room and studio...

doing what you might do in a sewing room and studio...

thread painting...

quilting....

making patterns...

making more patterns...

art journaling...

and occasionally
sewing my bathrobe into my stitching...

I am predisposed to wearing my bathrobe over my clothing in the winter...

and I whine about the weather!

a lot!!!!!

I am still looking for a cure!

Gimme Shelter

On a day like today....

Rolling Stone's song, Gimme Shelter,
comes to mind...

"Oh, a storm is threat'ning
My very life today
If I don't get some shelter
Oh yeah, I'm gonna fade away.."

and while we are far enough from the Atlantic coast
that we will be spared the worst,
we are still going to get a sizable dumping of snow!

Needless to say,
one must be prepared with the necessaries
 for times like these!

Wood for the stove...

check!

Toilet paper....

check!

Clean sewing room....

check!

plenty of fabric....

check!

Knitting projects...

check!

Reading material...

check!

Then I guess I am all set!!!

I'll be snug as a bug inside...

and I may not come out till spring!

Bring it on, Mother Nature!!!!

Sunset on Harris Bay

I'm late!!!!
My heart has been pounding all morning trying to make the noon EST deadline!!!

Gotta get a post written so I can showcase the quiltie I made for a sunrise/sunset challenge!!!

Sunset on Harris Bay

Whether or not I make it on time or even have a chance of winning...
this piece brings back a happy memory...
spending time with friends on Lake George late in the summer
and being awestruck by the beauty of a sunset!

Monday, August 18, 2014

with gratitude....

"Lake George is without comparison, the most beautiful water I ever saw; formed by a contour of mountains into a basin... finely interspersed with islands, its water limpid as crystal, and the mountain sides covered with rich groves... down to the water-edge: here and there precipices of rock to checker the scene and save it from monotony."
-- Thomas Jefferson, May 31, 1791

This summer, I discovered (or should I say, finally took advantage of)
just minutes from home...

The workshops were wonderful
but the grounds are unmatched ...

Mother Nature at her finest...

inspiration everywhere...

that feeds my soul.

amen.
