Just like the evolution of man...
I, too, am experiencing some changes in my journey here on this earth! (though I think I look a little better than those neanderthals!)
I have gone from standing at the corner school bus stop each weekday morning...
to spending my days homeschooling with my 2 younger kids, often at the kitchen table or around town....
And in my quilting....
I have transitioned from following a pattern....
(here's a peek at my machine quilted leaves)
(....this one being yet another now completed UFO )
To free piecing my hand dyed fabrics in this wavy piece...
I joined Victoria's Quilt-a-Long (I just couldn't resist!)
If you would like to have the purple coneflower wallhanging, I have decided to give it away so..... leave me a comment here (I'll pick a name on October 31st)!
....and if you haven't seen my other giveaway, check it out and leave a comment on that post!

ReplyDeleteYour talents are never-ending! If I had the wall hanging, I would donate to Mary's Haven which is a local 'home for the dying.' It would surely brighten up a room.
ReplyDeleteBTW...love the leaf quilting!
Beautiful weall-hanging! My sister has been home-schooling for about 5 years now.
ReplyDeletePlease please count me in!! I love the purple coneflowers and the quilting! I can't believe you are giving that away! But I'd be happy to help you with that!:-)))0

Transitions always make life interesting, don't they? My DIL homeschools her children and it is such fun to watch their excitemant over school.
ReplyDeletePlease throw my name in the mix. I love your pretty cornflower quilt.
that wall hanging is just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove the wallhanging :-)
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize you were now homeschooling TWO of the kids! I think you'd be a great teacher for them. Of course, I'd like my name in the hat for the wallhanging. It is a very nice one!
ReplyDeleteyour hand dyes are "to die" for. They really turned out wonderful and I love the project you are doing them in.
ReplyDeleteIt's really interesting to see your 'evolution', it makes me want to think about my own.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the doubling of your homeschool students ;) What an amazing journey for all of you...
I would love this wall hanging. I have enjoyed watching your changes with quilting, exercising, and now being a homeschooler. I think back to where we were 8 years ago and where we are now it's incredible with all the changes we have accomplished. I can't wait to see the wavy dyed quilt in person.
ReplyDeleteThe cornflowers are very nice and I would love to win them. I really love the direction you are taking with your hand-dyes now.
ReplyDeleteFun to have found you, which I did on the Don't Look Now Quilt-a-Long list...I made these coneflowers - but - I gave them to my aunt in Italy...so I would LOVE to win one that I can have. And Pat Sloan lives near me; I learned to free-motion from her, so I am totally into this lovely give-a-way!

...forgot to say, homeschooled my 7 for 20 yrs, please write if you need help, advice, whatever...my oldest 2 are 20 and 17 and are done, but the next 5, I became a Teacher this yr, so they're still all with me, in a school that's similar to a hs'ing approach. But be encouraged.

I too have transitioned from traditional to a liberated quilter. It is quite a challage for me sometimes to let go and live with my decisions rather than following a pattern, but I had a great weekend and came up with several ideas that transformed into rockin' quilt tops. I am looking forward to see how your designs evolve. The coneflower piece is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh, that quilt along is tempting! But I just joined Kelli's Joseph's Coat and don't have time for another project. I'm gonna flag the page so I can come back to it.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win the wallhanging. I know just where I'd put it.
Not sure how I missed these two giveaways of yours??!!! But congrats on 300 posts! You are about twice ahead of me lol!! I started my very first needleturn on a Pat Sloan project - that Christmas quilt she does. Never did the coneflowers but they are still lovely:) And Anna who commented above - go to her, seriously, if you need homeschooling advice! She's the friend I got to spend a week with this Spring! She is a pro at homeschooling ;)
